SOME SERIOUS FACTS DENTISTS AND ORAL MEDICS ARE THE FIRST WHO MUST DIAGNOSE ORAL CANCER The dentist and the oral medics are the first, who must diagnosticate the oral cancer of the patients in its earliest stages. Why exactly they? Because they are the medical practitioners, who will see first the symptoms of the oral cancer. EARLY DIAGNOSTICATION OF ORAL CANCER IS IMPORTANT Why is this so important? Because, if diagnosed and treated (or redirected for treatment) early, the survival rate of the patients is higher, not mentioning, that the percentage of completely removal of the disease is much higher, and the operative intervention needed is much smaller with a much more bearable postoperative period for the patient. All cancers of the human face and the oral cavity can be successfully and permanently treated if diagnosed early, even the most malignant tumour of the human body - the malignant melanoma. Said in brief, early diagnosed oral carcinoma patients survive. The difference between the aerly and the late diagnosticaton of oral cancer is the difference between life and death. SO LITTLE IS ENOUGH Diagnostics and redirection of the patient to maxillo- facial surgery department is enough to be saved the life of the patient with a malignant tumour. It is not necessary the dentist and the oral medic to operate this person (in many countries it is even forbidden dentist or an oral medics to operate malignant tumours and such patients are being redirected to a maxillo- facial surgery specialist as a standart procedure). If diagnosed early and correctly noone have the right to blame the dentist or the oral medic for ot operating the patient, however the dentist can be blamed if an early stage of carcinoma is missed and this costs the life of the patient. A SERIOUS PROBLEM Dentists and oral medics have no difficulties to diagnosticate dental caries, but have serious difficulties for diagnosticate cancer in the oral cavity. Missing the diagnose of such diseases may lead to dangerous consequences for the patient, such as a delay in the treatment of malignant tumor, prescribing antibiotics therapy or warming procedures of carcinomas of the oral cavity, treating cancerous ulcers on the oral mucosa as a benign mucosa lesions. Everything this may lead to severe consequences for the patient, and even death from the untreated malignant tumour. Other diseases in the domain of the maxillo- facial surgery also are diagnostics problem for the majority of the dentists and the oral medics. |
HOW TO IMPROVE THE DIAGNOSTIC SUCCESS RATE?
The direct factor for making diagnostic errors for dangerous diagnoses such as the cancer of the oral cavity and the maxillofacial area, is the experience of the practitioner, and the knowledge about the symptoms of these diseases. This is why both the dental and medical school institutions arround the world from one side, and the dentists, oral medics, and oral and maxillo- facial surgeons fro the other side must do their best efforts to enchance the experience in the field of the oral cancer diagnostics. Briefly the efforts, that can be taken from the practitioners are: - Taking courses for diagnostics of oral cancer and other life threatening diseases. - Taking courses for diagnostics of diseases in the field of the maxillo- facial surgery. - Using contemprorary methods for diagnostics of these diseases. - Mastering the biopsy methodology. HOW CAN WE HELP? We can help with all of the above recommendations: We organize courses over diagnostics topics for the diseases in the domain of the maxillo- facial surgery. One of the courses, that we organize is a course over early diagnostics of oral cancer. The courses can also be held online. If You have interest for taking one, or some of the courses, please contact us by the following email: diagnostichelpersoftware@yahoo.com We can help also by offering You the diagnostic helper software. The software tries to prevent You from making diagnostic mistakes during the patient examination and with that to prevent both patients and dentists from mistakes in the diagnostic process. Using correctly the software an average dentist or oral medic will improve his/her success rate while making the diagnosis in the area of the maxillofacial surgery. Please note, that the software is made for the use of people with a medical education in the field of the dentistry or the oral medicine. The software is based on choosing symptoms from a list.
